Packs - the season that was

January 12th, 2009

Well after finally adding my allegiance to a single NFL team they got rid of their star quarterback of about a million years and then had the worst season since for ever. There’s a reason I don’t follow a lot of sports and it’s not because I don’t enjoy it but because everyone does badly when I support them. Heck even United took a bit of a nosedive when I started my brief flirtation with giving a rat’s tail about club footy.

That said, it looks like the Packers have done the right thing. Aaron Rogers has had a reasonable season as the new quarterback but where the team has been let down has been defensively. Thankfully, Mike McCarthy has pressed the reset button and fired pretty much everyone involved in coaching the Packs defensive line. It looks like Mike Nolan is coming from the Redskins to rebuild that coaching team so it looks like next season might be a bit less frustrating to watch.

It’s a shame we only get to see 2 (seemingly) randomly picked games a week here in the UK if we don’t subscribe to the sports channels (urgh). If the Packs start playing good football, I might even get my NFL.com subscription on.
