Jailbreaking the iPod Touch
April 8th, 2008Jailbreaking the iPhone or iPod Touch is just so simple and can do so much at the moment that it’s not really worth avoiding.
After jailbreaking your iPod or iPhone you can install a world of new applications from the iPhysics apps (including Crayon Physics which is awesome), several marble based games using the hardware accelerometer (meaning you can move the ball by tilting the device) or you can install the Summerboard theme app which allows you to add themes from the hundreds out there at the moment or you can generate your own simply by creating a bunch of .pngs with the right filenames.
These are probably my favourites on my iPod Touch at the moment (click to embiggen):
note: the screenshots are made with, you guessed it, a jailbreak app plus a little ssh jiggery pokery. It’s not quite as simple as if Apple had done it themselves (wait for iPhone v2.0 for that) but if you know what sFTP and ssh are, then you’re ready to get cracking (teehee).
